TCP 49 là cổng đăng ký của TACACS+ (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System Plus), giao thức AAA mà thiết bị mạng dùng để tập trung xác thực, phân quyền và ghi nhận hoạt động đăng nhập quản trị — ví dụ Cisco ISE hoặc TACACS+ daemon mã nguồn mở.

Khi xác thực TACACS+ thất bại: kiểm tra địa chỉ máy chủ và khóa chia sẻ trên thiết bị khớp hoàn toàn (sai một ký tự cũng thất bại không báo lỗi), xem nhật ký tac_plus hoặc live sessions của ISE ở phía máy chủ, và cho phép TCP 49 đi ra từ thiết bị. TACACS+ làm rối phần thân dữ liệu (khác RADIUS chỉ bảo vệ mật khẩu), nhưng không đáp ứng chuẩn mã hóa hiện đại — hãy chạy trên mạng quản trị đáng tin cậy và thay khóa định kỳ.
Important limitations
Việc làm rối dữ liệu TACACS+ không bảo đảm tính bí mật hay chống phát lại đáng tin cậy (RFC 8907 §10 nêu rõ giới hạn này). Môi trường nhiều nhà cung cấp cũng nên đánh giá RADIUS (1812/1813) hoặc giải pháp hiện đại hơn.
