UDP 1900 truyền SSDP (Simple Service Discovery Protocol), cơ chế khám phá của UPnP. Bộ định tuyến, máy in, loa thông minh và máy chủ đa phương tiện đều lắng nghe ở đây. SSDP chỉ có ý nghĩa trong LAN — không bao giờ nên xuất hiện trên giao diện công cộng.

Khi điều tra lưu lượng SSDP bất thường: lượng lớn gói từ 1900 thường là UPnP NOTIFY — `tcpdump -i <iface> udp port 1900` cho biết nguồn. Tắt UPnP trên bộ định tuyến là cách khắc phục hiệu quả nhất. Important limitations
